Are all items Brand New?
The products sold at Simon Charles Auctioneers come from high street & online retailers, wholesalers, distributors across the UK, in a range of different conditions from brand new to customer returned or faulty.
We don’t always have chance to test and check the items and all products are sold as seen, due to this we have viewing times available to come down and check the condition of a lot and we highly recommend you take advantage of them. (These times can be found by clicking the book viewing button on the auction catalogue or lot page. Bookings will need to be made in advance)
If it is not possible to view we also have an ask a question" feature on each item, where you can gain a better understanding of the product before bidding.
Where do the items in your auctions come from?
The stock that we sell comes from a variety of different sources. We work closely with a number of high street & online retailers, wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers to bring well known brands to auction. The stock we sell will be in a range of different conditions from brand new to customer returned or faulty. We fully recommended making use of our viewing times and the 'ask a question' function on the website.
What are "unprocessed raw returns"?
Unprocessed Raw Return means that we at Simon Charles have not checked the stock in any way, the items have come direct from the vendors customer return department and there is a chance that parts may be missing or badly damaged.
We only guarantee that the item listed corresponds with the product we sell and make no claim to functionality. Items within this auction may be faulty, damaged or have missing parts.
We advise all our customers to take advantage of our viewing times prior to bidding in all auctions.
Commonly Used Cataloging Phrases
Boxed
This term simply means that the product is in a box, it does not indicate that the product is in it's original packaging and does not refer in any way to the condition of the product.
Grade 1
This term is provided by our supplier, THIS IS NOT our grading system. The term refers to the standard of returned item that they are dealing with. It is worth pointing out that whilst this is the highest standard of returned product, it is still a returned item and therefore we do not guarantee that the product is complete or undamaged. Simon Charles will only be liable for refunds where this terminology is used if the product is marked with an inconsistent Grade and this has been missed by our cataloguing team.
Grade 2
This term is provided by our supplier, THIS IS NOT our grading system. The term refers to the standard of returned item that they are dealing with. Grade 2 products should be expected to be missing parts and/or be damaged.
Good Picture
This term is used as a condition report for various electrical goods that we sell, it refers to the state of the picture when tested by our cataloguer, this condition report means that the screen is not smashed, has no burns and no pixel damage. The term does not rule out scratches to the screen or damage to the frame and does not mean that the product is perfect, for example sound and internet connectivity are not guaranteed on a "good picture" condition report. Simon Charles will only be liable for breach of this term if this is pointed out before a product has left our premises.
Photographic Studio/Sample
This term refers to the fact that the product has come to us directly from a suppliers photographic studio, it means that the product was used as part of their cataloguing process, the term does not suggest anything about the standard of the product and it is not uncommon for these items to have some cosmetic damage.
Authenticity Unverified/In The Style Of
This term refers to the fact that we cannot verify whether or not these products are genuine, this is due to how our supplier obtains possession of these goods. Whilst we believe that the vast majority of the products that we sell at Simon Charles are genuine, however we cannot be 100% certain as we DO NOT authenticate every product.
Approximately
This term is used with regards to the amount of items in a lot, typically if the number is particularly high. When the term "approximately" has been used we do expect that, that will be the correct number of items in that lot, however, it may be that the count falls slightly short or indeed over the number advertised, typically for counts over 100 we would not refund on a 10% margin for example.
Brand New
This term means that the product is "Brand New", it means that the product is not a returned good, the product should come complete with accessories, unless stated, and should be in working order. However as ever with our goods products should be checked on site and once they have left the premises no refunds can be issued. Unless this phrase is used please assume that the item is not brand new. Any connotation of this phrase will refer to the style of the item.
Damaged/Smashed Screen
These terms can be found as condition report for our electrical products, they refer to the fact that the screen for this product is damaged or smashed, however they should not be taken as a conclusive list of faults that the product has.
Powers up/on
These terms are common condition reports for our electrical items, they refer to the fact that when tested by our cataloguer the product came on, usually to the start up screen. However after this point no further testing has been done, it is possible that a product may have a fault other than this i.e. internet connectivity.
Password/Locked
This term is usually found in the condition report of electrical products and refers to the fact that the product has been locked by its previous owner, whilst it may or may not be possible to gain access to the product it is not a service that we offer at Simon Charles. Additionally it should not be assumed that this is the only fault with this product.
Untested
This term is usually found in the condition report of electrical products. Whilst we do try and test all of the electrical goods and provide as much information as possible on them occasionally due to stock turnover we do not have the time to test them, for the goods marked as untested the buyer is buying at their own risk and Simon Charles will offer no refunds on these products.
Pristine
This term refer to the fact that the main body of this product is in excellent condition and usually this information comes from the supplier, however it may be missing accessories.
As New
This term refer to the fact that the product is in excellent condition, in the opinion of the cataloguer.
Designer
This term is used to indicate that whilst we may not be at liberty to release details of which designer the product has originally been produced for sale by a reputable designer, usually for the high street.
Quality
This term is used to imply a base level of expectation for the class of the product.
